hey everyone,
the bbbs activity went well, unfortunately we only had 2 kids show up, but it was that really cold weekend so i think if we schedule another date in the spring we'll have a good turnout and can really show these kids how to do some work on their bikes! we'll be working this sunday 1-5pm. we'll be riding to the FREE movie at the colony theater next wednesday, feb 28th. we'll meet at 5 points and head out at 6pm to make the 7pm movie. details on that and another bike event at the exploris museum below. see you there,

"The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil" This documentary tells the story of the sudden economic collapse of Cuba and the dramatic steps taken by both individual Cubans and the government in dealing with an unexpected and drastic drop in imports of oil, oil based products, food and medicines. It is a story of a country forced to turn away from dependence on external sources of energy and food and to develop internal sustainable systems to meet the energy and nutritional needs of its people.
This so called "artificial" peak oil experienced by Cuba not only gives the world a window into the impact of energy scarcity, but provides a model for reducing energy use, implementing sustainable practices and preparing for the expected global decline in oil production experts have been predicting for decades.
